Why we built Jupiter

Before you dig in, here's the short version of why we built Jupiter and what we're trying to do differently.

I'm Carter Zimmerman, and I want to tell you why Jupiter exists before you go any further.

Small and mid-sized shops have had two choices when it comes to loan origination software. Legacy platforms that were built for a different era and never caught up, or newer platforms that try to do everything for everyone and price accordingly. Neither is the right fit for a one-to-twenty person brokerage, community bank, or credit union. You end up with software that does a lot of things and helps you with none of them well.

We started with a different question in Canada about ten years ago. Not "what does this software need to do to win feature comparisons," but "what does a loan officer actually want from this software?" That question became Finmo. It won the Canadian market not because it had more features than the competition, but because LOs used it and told other LOs to use it.

Jupiter is what happens when you take that approach and partner it with Rocket. It's purpose-built for small and mid-sized brokerages, credit unions, and community banks that want the caliber of technology the big lenders have, without giving up what makes them independent. Your data stays yours. Your client relationships stay yours. Rocket is there when you want the integration, and out of your way when you don't.

The thing we care about most is momentum. Other LOS platforms talk about being "streamlined," which usually means shaving a click here or there. Momentum is bigger than that. It means the file keeps moving without you pushing it. The next action is obvious. The borrower doesn't need anything explained three times. Documents show up before you ask. Problems get flagged upstream, not at submission.

Most LOS platforms are stairs. Jupiter is an escalator.

If we've done our job, you chase less and close more. You show up to borrowers looking like the tech-forward shop you are, without building a tech team to get there. And you decide what to do with the time you get back, whether that's more volume, better service on fewer files, or your evenings.

This is day one for Jupiter in the US. There's a lot still to build, and we'll message you when there's something worth sharing. If something is broken, missing, or just getting in your way, tell me. Jupiter gets better because the people using it feel empowered to share their feedback.
