How to add or remove a loan officer from a loan

Jupiter makes it easy to assign or remove a loan officer from a loan application. Assigned loan officers automatically receive notifications when their clients start applications, submit applications, or upload documents.

You can manage loan officer assignment in four ways:

  • Assign yourself automatically when creating a loan.

  • Control assignment via the team application link (your “Apply Now” button).

  • Add a loan officer manually from the Overview section of a loan.

  • Remove a loan officer manually from the Overview section of a loan.


How do I automatically assign a loan officer via the team application link (team admin only)

Prerequisite: This setting is available to team admins only. It applies when borrowers start an application through your team’s public application link (for example, the “Apply Now” button on your website).

The team application link routes new borrower applications to a pre-selected loan officer (or officers) automatically. The full path is Settings → Loan → Loan assignment.

1. Click Settings on the top menu.

2. Select Loan from the left menu.

3. Scroll down to Loan assignment and assign the loan officer or officers who should be notified when a new loan starts.

4. Ensure notifications are turned on so the assigned officers receive updates immediately, then click Save notification settings.

Important: If your team uses a shared team email, make sure it is listed in your team settings. This ensures the team email also receives notifications when borrowers apply via the team application link.

Assigned loan officers will automatically be notified when clients:

  • Start a loan application.

  • Submit an application.

  • Upload documents.

New applications submitted via the team application link are automatically assigned to the selected loan officer(s), who will receive notifications for client activity on those loans. If a team email is configured, it will also receive notifications.


How do I assign myself when creating a new loan?

When you create a new loan in Jupiter, you are automatically listed as the main loan officer. You can change the main officer or add additional team members at creation time without leaving the new loan screen.

1. Click New loan from the top menu.

2. In the Who is working on the loan? section, your name is automatically listed as the main loan officer. To assign someone else as the main officer, replace your name with another team member. To add additional officers, select more team members in the same section.

How do I change or add another loan officer to an existing loan?

Use the Loan assignment panel in the loan’s Overview to update loan officer assignments after the loan has already been created. The full path is Loan → Overview → Loan assignment → Edit details.

1. Open the loan and click Overview in the left menu.

2. Locate the Loan assignment section on the right side of the Overview page, then click Edit details.

3. Add the new loan officer from the dropdown list, then click Save changes.

The added loan officer appears in the Loan assignment panel and starts receiving notifications for client activity on that loan.


How do I remove a loan officer from a loan?

Remove a loan officer from the same Loan assignment panel used to add one. The full path is Loan → Overview → Loan assignment → Edit details → ×.

1. Open the loan and click Overview in the left menu.

2. Locate the Loan assignment section on the right side of the Overview page.

3. Click Edit details.

4. Click the × beside the officer’s name to remove them, then click Save changes.

The removed loan officer no longer appears in the Loan assignment panel and stops receiving notifications for client activity on that loan.


Frequently asked questions

Who is automatically notified when a borrower starts a loan application?

The assigned loan officer(s) on the loan are notified automatically when a client starts an application, submits an application, or uploads documents. If your team has a team email configured in team settings and notifications are enabled, the team email also receives these notifications.

Can I assign more than one loan officer to a loan?

Yes, Jupiter supports multiple loan officers on the same loan. You can add additional officers in the “Who is working on the loan?” section when creating a new loan, or from the Loan assignment panel on an existing loan’s Overview page.

Who can set up automatic loan officer assignment via the team application link?

Only team admins can configure automatic loan officer assignment for the team application link. The setting is found under Settings → Loan → Loan assignment and applies to applications submitted through your team’s public application link.

When am I automatically assigned as the loan officer on a new loan?

You are automatically listed as the main loan officer whenever you click “New loan” from the top menu and create a loan yourself. You can change the main officer or add additional officers in the “Who is working on the loan?” section before saving the loan.

What types of client activity trigger notifications to assigned loan officers?

Assigned loan officers are notified when a client starts a loan application, submits an application, or uploads documents. Notifications must be turned on in Settings → Loan → Loan assignment for these alerts to be sent.

What is the team email used for in loan assignment?

The team email is an optional shared inbox that receives the same loan-activity notifications as assigned loan officers. To use it, list the team email in your team settings and ensure notifications are enabled.

How do I change the main loan officer on an existing loan?

Open the loan, click Overview in the left menu, find the Loan assignment panel on the right, click Edit details, update the loan officer from the dropdown, and click Save changes.
