After inviting borrowers to a loan in Finmo, you can request documents automatically by setting your smart docs rules to ask each borrower for certain documents based on the application stage. You can also manually request documents if you need a specific document that isn’t a part of your regular smart docs rules.

How to manually request documents from specific or multiple borrowers?

1. Select the “Documents” tab of the loan.

2. Click on "New request"

3. Choose documents to request from the list, or create a custom document from your team settings if needed.

4. Select which borrowers to request documents from, then click “Create request”

5. Click “Update borrower(s)” in the top navigation bar to send a message about the new document requests. Select which borrower(s) to update from the list.

6. Click “Send update”

7. You can also set a due date & reminders for your borrowers to respond to document requests.

What does the borrower(s) see when a document has been requested?

The borrower should receive an email like this:

Once they login to their borrower portal, they can click “Go to documents” and upload the requested/outstanding documents.

Note: If there are multiple borrowers invited to the loan, the document requests are in separate tabs for each borrower. A borrower simply has to click on their name to view which docs have been requested from them.

What should you see when a borrower has uploaded documents?

The borrower should receive an email like this:

Documents are segmented into "For your Review", “Loan officer accepted”, "Needs Attention" and "Approved" for each borrower so you can easily identify which borrower needs follow-up.

Downloading approved documents

1. For documents that have been “Approved”, you can download all of the files added as a merged PDF or ZIP file. You may also download them individually by clicking “Download” in the “Actions” drop-down menu.
